We are glad to announce that Sacco Goes Green has claimed the NYCxDESIGN Award in the “Greater Good: social + environmental impact” promoted by Interior Design Magazine.

On Monday 18th of May the Awards ceremony of the important international award was virtually held on streaming FB before 10,000 live viewers, promoted and coordinated by Interior Design Magazine that selects the best projects and products which stand out in the main design categories. Now in its 5th edition the award has received and valued 555 total entries from 24 countries worldwide. The category “Greater Good” is focused on projects that have a value in terms of environmental impact and represent a solution for a sustainable development: it is therefore a great acknowledgment for the Sacco armchair which in 2019, for its 50th anniversary, evolved into Sacco Goes Green to fight the global changes by offering itself as a green icon of a sustainable model projected towards the future.

Conceived in 1968 by the young architects Gatti, Paolini and Teodoro and put into production in 1969 by Zanotta, Sacco was a direct and revolutionary project that invented an ergonomic and non-conformist seat, bringing innovation into the domestic universe. Sacco Goes Green is identical in form but with a new filling. Sacco Goes Green is identical in form and renewed in substance. Synbra’s BioFoam® Microspheres, a bioplastic (PLA) obtained from sugar cane, have replaced the high strength expanded polystyrene (EPS) balls of the original design. The outer fabric is made with ECONYL®, a regenerated nylon thread, entirely obtained from fishing nets collected from the seabed, scraps of fabric and industrial plastic that are transformed into new yarn. Sacco Goes Green is an environmentally friendly product that activates a circular economy process and helps reducing the environmental impact.
